Why you need a survey

Below is a (growing) number of videos that explain the survey process.

Each short video highlights potential or existing defects and potential solutions. Many of the videos discuss defects in period properties where a building survey or Level 3 survey is recommended by RICS. A building survey is suggested when properties are over 50 years and therefore regarded as period or of non-conventional construction.

These videos give guidance on how a surveyor goes about inspecting defects in a building but does not substitute the requirement for a comprehensive RICS survey conducted by an RICS Building Surveyor.

Explaining defects in pitched roofs

This short video explains possible defects found to the external roof structure but does not give detail for the weathering solutions where there is damp ingress around the chimney roof abutment which will be covered in another video.

Defects found in solid walls

This video looks at defects often found in solid walls and the possible solutions that can be adopted using traditional materials

Inspecting the interior of an investment property
